a door to heaven was unlocked

all the angels started stirring

for they’d waited for this moment

since the dawn of the beginning

to bear witness to atonement

for three days their world fell silent

since the Word was put to death

they all watched, anticipating

leaning in with bated breath

in that place of tombs and darkness,

sat within the camp of grief

came the chanting of the rival

and the shouts of unbelief

then the air changed in an instant

earth and heaven started shaking

like a whisper in the distance

growing loud of shackles breaking

every gaze was on the graveyard

then the Father gave the cue

and the stone was rolled and seal was broken

light came bursting through

there the Son stood in His glory

worthy of all earth’s rejoicing

when He gave a shout to heaven

every creature heard His voice

it was fearsome in its power

like a mighty peal of thunder

hosts of heaven fell before Him

mouth agape in awe and wonder

for their King, He was triumphant

and new life could now abound

in their need to offer praise

they whispered “holy” to the ground

then they felt within their being

a new song rise to the surface

pouring forth into the skies

angelic sounds of Kingdom worship

as their eyes were lifted upward

what they saw brought forth a shock

when that tomb was rolled and open

a door to heaven was unlocked

written on the post above it

spanning wide from east to west

was a message to the reader:

“come enter in and find your rest”
